Speed reading strengthens your ability to read any style of writing while still understanding the meaning behind it.Whether you're already a fast reader or not, once you start training yourself to speed read, you'll notice your reading rate and recollection will vastly improve over time.
For example, when speed reading, you'll be able to skim right over the less vital pieces of information and pick out the sections which are more important far quicker than if you were to read normally.
Ways to Improve Your Ability to Speed Read:
1.Stay away from distractions. Interruptions can interfere with your understanding and cause confusion.
2.Track your time. Before you read, have a stopwatch in hand. Turn the stopwatch on when you start reading and stop it when you stop. Continue to do this for a couple days/weeks to see how you improve over time.
3.Be consistent. If you only read when you feel like it, you’ll never learn anything new. You’ll just end up repeating the same patterns over and over with no signs of improvement.
4.Avoid repetition. Try to understand what you read the first time so that you don’t end up having to re-read a portion you skimmed too much over.
5.Practice getting faster. Try to read a little faster each time you pick up the material. You can do this by skipping over common words.
