Shemeka Brathwaite, MSEd
Shemeka Brathwaite doesn’t just speak about leadership she lives it at the intersection of purpose, presence, and power. With over two decades of experience in workforce education in higher education, community leadership, and executive development, she equips high-capacity professionals to lead with clarity, command the room with confidence, and leave a legacy that speaks long after the meeting ends.
She’s not your typical keynote speaker and that’s exactly the point.
Shemeka blends dynamic storytelling, memorable poetic insight, and research-based strategy to spark transformation in every room she enters. Her signature framework, Productive Presence, empowers leaders to move intentionally before they enter the room, operate with influence while they’re in it, and leave behind impact after they walk out. Her message is clear. Real leadership isn’t about doing more it’s about showing up better.
As a doctoral candidate in community-based leadership with a dissertation focused on sustainable leadership among Black women navigating work, family, and community leadership, Shemeka brings a grounded, intersectional lens to leadership development. Her work honors both data and lived experience, bridging the gap between scholarship and real-world strategy.
Her TEDx Talk, How to P.L.A.N. Activism into Your Work-Life Balance is a framework for Intentional Community Leadership, which introduced audiences to a powerful model for navigating life's complexity with purpose. Whether she’s coaching executives, training future leaders, or addressing hundreds from the stage, her message always centers on leading with integrity and preserving the people who make the mission possible.
Born and raised in Brooklyn, NY, Shemeka is a university administrator and lecturer with the City University of New York, the largest urban public university system in the United States. She has mentored hundreds of future workforce professionals while designing programs that center equity, access, and student success.
Beyond the campus, as a professional speaker, she has delivered high-impact talks and workshops in person and virtually for universities, nonprofits, corporations, associations, and women’s leadership networks across the country.
She’s walked the walk, juggling family, faith, scholarship, community leadership, and a business, all while fiercely protecting her own capacity. Her life is a testament to what it means to show up on purpose even when the world demands too much. Her community work has earned her congressional, state assembly, and city council proclamations.
Her clients describe her as “electrifying,” “deeply authentic,” and “a speaker who speaks from the soul and strategy.” She’s the kind of voice that doesn’t just inspire you in the moment. It shifts how you think about taking action.
Through her company, Shemeka Brathwaite Enterprises, LLC, she offers keynotes, executive coaching, and digital learning experiences that help purpose-driven professionals reclaim their time, refine their leadership, and expand their legacy. Her platform, Productive Presence, is more than a brand. It’s a movement for leaders who are done with burnout and ready to build sustainably.
Because leadership shouldn’t come at the cost of your well-being.
And impact shouldn’t mean self-sacrifice.
Shemeka Brathwaite helps you lead like you mean it before the room, in the room, and beyond.
